Session 2: Effective Marine Protected Marine (Video)

This Action Track session will provide a brief snapshot of the current state of knowledge on marine protected areas based on recent analyses conducted for the Oceania region. It will explore the human-ecological nexus and interaction in the context of MPAs, examine how some of the issues surrounding MPA management in the region being addressed, such as Illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. The session will also highlight examples of innovative sustainable financing approaches and multi-country initiatives that have inspired and catalysed action for designating and managing marine protected areas in the region.
