UNOSAT Preliminary Assessment Report 'Eua Island - 21 Jan 2022
Preliminary Satellite-Derived Damage Assessment as of 21st January 2022 for 'Eua Island.
Status:
- Extensive damage is observed the Eua island as of 20 January 2022 likely caused by the tsunami waves triggered by the volcanic eruption;
- The settlement along the shoreline of Ohonua town seems to have been washed away by the tsunami waves as of 20 January 2022;
- 54 structures in cloud free zone are heavily damaged and/or destroyed as of 20 January 2022;
- Destroyed road along the shoreline observed as of 20 January 2022;
- Inland structures seems not to be destroyed but likely damaged;
- No damaged structures observed in 'Eua Fo Ou town and Houma village as of 20 January 2022
