Dataset captures Fiji petroleum product volume imports & re-exports) from 2000 - 2014. Data sourced directly from the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. Data captures HS Code, SITC, country or import or export, quantity, unit and value. Table below shows the specific codes for each petroleum product.
Fiji Islands transport data. Data collected by Mr Herbet Wade, consultant for the SPREP PIGGAREP Project. Record holds several attachments. The objective of this project is to assess what is available in the Pacific Islands countries (PIC), identify and determine how renewable sources & ultimately technology can be used to offset fuel imports and lastly what mechanisms is appropriately applicable towards having an Energy efficient program towards the fuel design. Data collected involved transport of all sectors.
The dataset captures the existing and approved Electricity Tariff Rates set by the Commerce Commission. it showcase the existing tariff rate since 1st September 2009 and the new approved tariff rate effective 1st June 2010.
In this new schedule, you will note that:
- Households consuming 130 kWh will now pay 16.4% less.
For example, an household paying $30 in the past will now pay $25.08. We have 17343 households who will get a relief with reduction in their bill by 16.46%;
- The high end domestic users will now have to pay 8.82 cents more;

Household Income Expenditure Survey (HIES) collects a wealth of information on household income and expenditure, such as source of income by industry, household (HH) expenditure on goods and services, and income and expenditure associated with subsistence production and consumption. In addition to this, HIES collects information on sectoral and thematic areas, such as education, health, labour force, primary activities, transport, information and communication, transfers and remittances, food expenditure (as a proxy for HH food consumption and nutrition analysis), and gender.

The objectives of Census changed over time shifting from earlier years where they were essentially household registrations and counts, to now where a national population census stands supreme as the most valuable single source of statistical data for the Fiji.
Census data is now widely used to evaluate:
- The availability of basic household needs in key sectors, to identify disadvantaged areas and help set priorities for action
plans;
- Benefits of development programmes in particular areas, such as literacy, employment and family planning;
To evaluate land use and land cover (LULC) maps an independent and representative test dataset is required. Here, a test dataset was generated via stratified random sampling approach across all areas in Fiji not used to generate [training data](https://github.com/livelihoods-and-landscapes/ccai-data/tree/main/fiji-…) (i.e. all Tikinas which did not contain a training data point were valid for sampling to generate the test dataset). Following equation 13 in [Olofsson et al.
## Overview
A geospatial dataset of point geometries with a land use / land cover label and several remote-sensing derived predictor variables that can be used to train and test a land use / land cover classifier.
This dataset was generated with support from a Climate Change AI Innovation Grant and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research.
Each of the point geometries was assigned one of the following class labels:
Most legislation governing natural resources in Fiji is very old and outdated, and very little attention is given to environmental issues in these statutes. The absence of a legislative environmental policy results in an absence of statutes with an express or implied environmental mandate, while laws governing resource development fail to recognise the environmental basis of natural resources. As a result, legislation provides little in the way of capacity to protect the environment from the impacts of development activities.
Biodiversity conservation - that is, the conservation of plants and animals that make up the species richness of a country - is widely recognised as an issue of importance for the South Pacific as it is relevant to family livelihoods, culture and economic development as well as to the unique biological story that these islands possess. The biodiversity of the region is threatened by a broad range of causes including unsustainable logging and fishing, invasive species, pollution, soil erosion, fire, habitat conversion and agricultural run-off.
Natural disasters such as hurricanes, cyclones, and tropical depressions cause average annual direct losses of US$284 million in the Pacific. With a combined population of fewer than 10 million people, annual losses are the highest in the world on a per-capita basis. Extreme weather events such as heavy rainfall are closely linked to climate change, suggesting that Pacific Island nations face increasing risk of disasters such as flooding and landslides. Proactive management through infrastructure development, social solutions, and/or ecosystem-based adaptation can mitigate these risks.

The Fiji Islands is a country rich in marine biodiversity. Fiji is also home to a large Indigenous population with a powerful heritage which is culturally and spiritually connected with the ocean. Many Indigenous people continue to live a largely traditional lifestyle adhering to customary laws and practices.
