A regular and consistent reporting on statistical products of National Statistical Systems (NSS) has
proven to be essentially necessary among developing countries for guiding their implementation of
National Strategies for the Development of Statistics (NSDS). It assists establish data gaps, and
challenges and issues why necessary statistics are not being produced in a timely manner.

The 2018 State of Environment (SOE) Report for Cook Islands updates the 1993 SOE report, and uses the Drivers, Pressures, State, Impact and Response (DPSIR) model of reporting.
The FSM SoE Report reveals the current state of knowledge about the environment in FSM along the following thematic areas: atmosphere and climate, water, land, marine, biodiversity, built environment, and culture and heritage.
This is the 2018 NIEP developed by DCIE with support from SPREP, UNEP, UNDP. The NIEP is a 5 year implementation plan to address environmental issues.
