The data set provides a summary of Kiribati fuel and LPG imported in the period 2015 - 2017. The Petroleum import data are measured in volumes ( Kilo Litres) and value per year in AUD currency.

Solar energy data in Kiribati for the years 1992, 1994, 2004 - 2013. Datasets captures the Solar Home Systems (SHS) and Solar Maneaba Systems (SMS) installed and total Watt peak (100 Wp) for solar energy by island and installation per year. This are the solar systems installed by JICA (1992), EDF 8 and EDF9 Projects, funded by the European Union. Data compiled by the Kiribati Energy Planning Unit from the records with the Kiribati Solar Energy Company (KSEC).

This record captures Kiribati transport data. Data was collected by Mr Herbet Wade, consultant for the SPREP PIGGAREP Project.  Data collected in 2012, purpose of the project is to collect transport data of all sectors & determine how renewable sources & ultimately technology can be used to offset fuel imports. This record holds several attachments:

  • vehicle imports,
  • outboard motor oil imports,
  • engine oil imports,
  • boats imports for the period 2008 - 212 and
  • fuel sales from gas stations.

This paper highlights the seriousness of the “biodiversity crisis” on atolls and the need to place greater research and conservation emphasis on atolls and other small island ecosystems. It is based on studies over the past twenty years conducted in the atolls of Tuvalu, Tokelau, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands and the Tuamotu Archipelago of French Polynesia. It stresses that atolls offer some of the greatest opportunities for integrated studies of simplified small-island ecosystems.
