The Maritime Zones Act 2013 states that the baseline of the territorial sea of Niue is measured from the low-water mark along the coast of Niue, or where there is a coral reef along any part of the coast of Niue, the low-water mark along the outer edge of the coral reef.

The territorial sea comprises those areas of the sea having, as their inner limits, the baseline and, as their outer limits, a line measured seaward from that baseline, every point of which is distant 12 nautical miles from the nearest point of the baseline.

The Maritime Zones Act 2013 states that the exclusive economic zone of Niue comprises those areas of the sea, seabed and subsoil that are beyond and adjacent to the territorial sea having as their outer limits a line measured seaward from the baseline, every point of which line is not more than 200 nautical miles from the nearest point of the baseline.

Niue's Territorial Sea Baseline was derived using the IKONOS satellite imagery taken in 2004 and Horizontal Datum used was the World Geodetic Datum 1984 (WGS 84) as stipulated under Section 12 of the Maritime Zones Act 2013.

The Maritime Zones Act 2013 states that the contiguous zone comprises those areas of the sea that are beyond and adjacent to the territorial sea, having as their outer limits a line measured seaward from the baseline, every point of which is distant 24 nautical miles from the nearest point of the baseline.

This bathymetry dataset was produced by the Joint Japan International Cooperatiopn Agency and SOPAC Deepsea Mineral Survey of selected areas within the SOPAC region. This metadata presents survey conducted in the Exclusive Economic Zone of Niue Islands, for the Fiscal Year 2003 . The survey carried out bathymetric and acoustic surveys, surface sediment survey, MFES survey of manganese Nodules and sampling.

As part of the AusAID-sponsored South Pacific Sea Level and Climate Monitoring Project (“Pacific Project”) for the FORUM region, in response to concerns raised by its member countries over the potential impacts of an enhanced Greenhouse Effect on climate and sea levels in the South Pacific region, SEAFRAME (Sea Level Fine Resolution Acoustic Measuring Equipment) gauges have been installed in twelve forum countries. They record sea level, air and water temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and direction.

This report describes a high-resolution bathymetric mapping survey of the seabed surrounding the island of Niue. The survey was carried out over a period of six days in May 2005, resulting in the acquisition of over 550 km of multibeam echosounder (MBES) data.
This report describes a multibeam bathymetry survey of the seabed surrounding the island of Niue and report is available for download from its approprite link under Distribution Info.

Niue occurs within a cluster of seamounts, which may have originated as intraplate volcanoes (Nunn, 2004).This map illustrates new depth compilation for Niue showing the approximate positions of the exclusive economic zones shown as a dashed line, Seamount locations shown as crosses and additional seamounts are listed under new seamount numbers 11-14. This work was initiated by the SOPAC/EU project "Reducing Vulnerability of Pacific ACP States".Points out approximate positions of the exclusive economic zone and Seamount location.
