The scope of Census includes:
- HOUSEHOLD: Household characteristics such as; Type of Living quarters, House ownership, construction, floor & roof materials, source of drinking water, toilet type, source of cooking energy, method of cooking, source of lighting, type of crops grown, size of garden, types of livestocks, different appliances and electronics own, internet access, cash received, etc.
The scope of the 2011 Tonga Census of Population and Housing includes:
- HOUSEHOLD: Household listing, dwelling characteristics, housing utilities, durable goods, information technology, income, remittances, and mortality.
- INDIVIDUAL: Personal characteristics, migration, disability, smoking habit, education, labour force and employment, voting eligibility, and fertility
-HOUSEHOLD: Household characteristics, sanitation, water access, energy, waste disposal, household durables, livestock, remittances.
-INDIVIDUAL: Individual characteristics, ethnicity, religion, education, economic activities, fertility.
-HOUSEHOLD: Housing and Lands, food, livestock and fishing, capital goods, energy and waste management, cash inflow, environmental issue.
-INDIVIDUAL: Population's characteristics, education, use of narcotics, work status, fertility.
-HOUSEHOLD: Household characteristics, water supply, energy, toilet, tradition, communication & technology, waste management, involvment in agriculture, fishing, farming, equipment, transport.
-INDIVIDUAL: Individual characteristics, disability, literacy and language, information & technology, education, economic activity, income, narcotics, cultural activities and fertility.
This is the tenth census undertaken by the Statistics Office, the first being in 1971, and it has been held every five years ever since.
The census counts all persons present in the Cook Islands on the census night of the 1st December 2016, including visitors temporary in the country. Cook Islanders who are living or are temporarily on vacation abroad are excluded.
The Census provides a unique source of detailed demographic, social and economic data relating to the entire population at a single point in time. The most fundamental questions it will answer concern the size and distribution of the entire population, the extent to which men and women participate in the economy, and the nature of housing and household facilities.
The 2012 Population and Housing census of Tuvalu is the second census conducted by the Central Statistics Division since Tuvalu gained political independence in 1978. This census provides the population and housing information on areas covering general health, education, labour force, employment, disability, children, youth, aging-population, gender, communication, technology, urbanization, home appliances and many others.

The primary objective of the Census is to determine the official count of the number of persons and households in Kiribati in 2005 and can be used to compare their socio-economic characteristics with those 5 years ago collected in the 2000 Population Census. Results of the census are most useful for government of Kiribati for planning and policy formulation and thus have a direct impact on the Kiribati population.
The 1996 Tokelau Census of Population and Dwellings, like the previous censuses, was conducted to provide the administration, planners and policy-makers with up-to-date statistical information on demographic and socio-economic developments. This data is needed for planning purposes, and to evaluate the success and failure of programmes and projects. The 1996 census was conductedaccording to the Tokelau Census Regulations, 1961. These regulations require a census to be carried out every five years. The previous censues was conducted in 1991.
The Census is the official count of population, dwellings and households in Tonga and it provides a ‘snapshot’ of the country at one specific point in time: 30th of November 2011. A Tonga census has been taken once in every ten years since 1956. However the population census of 2011 is the first population census by 5 year interval from the previous census in 2006 due to the Electoral Boundary Commission (EBC)'s request according to its Act 2010.
