The overall objectives of the mangroves survey is conservation of biodiversity by means of sustainable used of mangroves ecosystem and natural resources. In supporting the objectives two primary objectives need to be address;
1. Collecting baseline data on mangrove and associated ecosystem at Koloa and Holeva and other sites as time permits
2. To develop mangroves species zoning using QGIS application and software along with GPS and using the Pacific Mangrove Monitoring Manual as a field guide and methodology.

The Cooperative Study on the Deepsea Mineral Resources in Selected Offshore Areas of the SOPAC Region, 1996, Sea Area of the island of Tonga .On the basis of the previous survey results, three seamounts, MS01, MS11, and MS12 were selected and drilling by BMS (deep sea boring system) was conducted to understand the occurrence of cobalt crust. Environmental survey was carried out to make clear the environmental characteristics of the area. The area was selected in accordance with the joint study program for deepsea

The Cooperative Study on the Deep sea Mineral Resources in Selected Offshore Areas of the SOPAC Region, 1989, Sea Area of the island of Tuvalu.The area was selected in accordance with the joint study program for deep sea mineral resources in the EEZ of the SOPAC member countries agreed upon by the Japanese executing agency and the South Pacific Applied Geoscience Commission (SOPAC) on March 3, 2000. By the survey, seafloor topographic maps and acoustic reflectivity data by Multi Narrow Beam Echo Sounder (MBES) of thirteen seamounts had been obtained, and sampling mainly by

In January 1993, a SEAFRAME (Sea Level Fine Resolution Acoustic Measuring Equipment) gauge was installed in Nukualofa, Tonga. Readings(height observations) recorded from the gauge, is held in this record and provided in the form of Yearly Reports, Tide Prediction Calendars and Hourly Sea Level and meteorological data (update frequency- real time) from the Nukualofa station. This is downloadable from the Distribution Info Section of this metadata record.The gauge has been returning high resolution, good scientific quality data since its installation.

This record holds the bathymetry chart within the island of Tongatapu, Fanga'uta Lagoon. The chart is the result of the multibeam bathymetry survey that was undertaken by the Applied Geoscience and Technology Division (SOPAC) of SPC over a period of 5 weeks from 13 of November to the 7th of December 2003 in Tongatapu and within Fanga’uta Lagoon. The surveyed area extends from the coast to approximately 10 km offshore. Water depths within the surveyed area ranged from 10 to 1500 m offshore and between 0 to 7 m within the lagoon.
