The Majuro Declaration of Climate Leadership was adopted by the Leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum in 2013. The Declaration captures the Pacific’s political commitment to be a region of Climate Leaders, and to spark a “new wave of climate leadership” that can deliver a safe climate future for all.
The vision of the 9 year KJIP (Kiribati Joint Implementation Plan 2014-2023) is that; Kiribati unique culture, heritage and identity are upheld and safeguarded through enhanced resilience and sustainable development.
The goal is; to increase resilience through sustainable climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction using a whole of country approach.
This Strategy is a five-year framework, a guiding document to support the development and implementation of communication initiatives. Its overarching objective is to highlight the priority communications goals in terms of climate change and climate risk in Kiribati, and to provide mechanisms and resources to enhance and encourage collaboration and cooperation in these areas.
This report is a result of a field work - it took an environmental and physical approach of the situation of Kiribati with the objectives to better understand the formation and recent evolution of sedimentary coasts, in particular tropical islands (Indian Ocean and Caribbean Sea archipelagos) and to analyze interrelations between physical processes and human development to determine the nature and extent of anthropogenic impacts, particularly in coral reef environments as well as to evaluate the exposure of islands to coastal hazards related to climate and climate change.
This is a project that will merge both climate change portal and inform portal into one. This project is awarded to eightyoptions based in Samoa. Project Manager for PACRES is Semi Qamese.
Under the GEF- funded project, ‘Integrating climate change risk in the Agriculture and Health Sectors in Samoa’ (ICCRAHS), this report was developed as requested by UNDP on behalf of MNRE, follows a two-day ‘Sector Engagement Workshop’ for MNRE and other Ministry staff. The report:

Samoans have their own unique seasonal calendar. The Samoan seasonal calendar is predominantly based on the observations of local environmental changes, which are in turn influenced by weather and climate.
This study examines the current influence of climate change on Samoa by looking at the three tenets of vulnerability: exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. It also analyzes how environmentally secure Samoa is and will be, using Thomas Homer Dixon’s theory on climate change and conflict. Finally, the paper seeks to outline the current system of adaptation awareness that exists between government, community and foreign aid
components, and propose future strategies.

It presents an updated conceptual hydrogeological model of the island's groundwater and surface water resources by integrating existing hydrological information with recently acquired subsurface datasets, shedding light on the complex nature of Tutuila's hydrogeology, which varies significantly across different locations on the island.
