As part of the preparation of the Pacific Region Environmental Strategy (PRES) the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has funded a field study in Yap State. The objectives of the study are to evaluate:
1) how traditional systems have played a role in natural resource management and in development
2) how traditional systems could be productively integrated with contemporary approaches to resource management
3) how public-private partnerships have been employed in the development of tourism destinations in a Pacific island nation and could be employed in future development.

PacWaste is a four year project (2014–2017) funded by the European Union and implemented by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), to improve regional hazardous waste management

This Feasibility Study was undertaken by the Pacific Invasives Initiative (PII). The study was undertaken to determine the feasibility of managing invasive plant species suspected of threatening an area of lowland native forest on Kosrae island, Federated States of Micronesia. A proposed protection area within the forest has high biodiversity, water supply and cultural values.

The collection, collation and review of data on the management of healthcare waste and best-practice options for its disposal in FSM under the PacWaste project. Information regarding the waste management process occurring, from ward-level waste generation through to ultimate treatment and disposal was collected during audits of the four largest hospitals:

• Chuuk State Hospital, Chuuk
• Pohnpei State Hospital, Pohnpei
• Kosrae State Hospital, Kosrae

This new State Solid Waste Management Strategy (SSWMS) is formulated with the aim of enabling Chuuk State to establish a technically sound and financially sustainable solid waste management (SWM) system. To do so, this SSWMS consists of not only of strategic elements, but also a mid‐term action plan of the first five years with technical, institutional and financially appropriate options, which will lead to implementation of the SSWMS .
