In the MABCBIO project, ACMCA was taken as focus area for community managed marine protected areas. This report examines the successes, challenges and lessons learned from the Arnavon Islands Community Marine Conservation Area (ACMCA). The objective of this research was to examine the various conservation efforts, methods and approaches applied in the Arnavons and assess what has worked, what has not worked and the main lessons learned.

National REDD+ action plan to achieve REDD+ Readiness

In April 2016, the Cabinet of the Solomon Islands Government endorsed the establishment of the Ocean12 National Steering Committee (comprising the twelve Ministries relevant to ocean management and use) with the mandate to progress Integrated Ocean Governance for the Solomon Islands. The Ocean12 set up a technical working group tasked with implementing the priority aspects of Integrated Ocean Governance including marine spatial planning and the development of an ocean policy.

Report on SUMAs in a medium resolution. Demarcating SUMAs is part of Marine Spatial Planning as commissioned by Ocean12 and supported by MACBIO (Marine and Coastal Biodiversity Management in Pacific Island Countries) project. Marine experts defined inshore and offshore SUMAs in a workshop in July 2017. The report describes the method and the results.

Draft Marine Bioregions of the Southwest Pacific
This report presents, for the first time, marine bioregions across the Southwest Pacific at a scale, which can be used nationally, as a basis for the systematic identification of an ecologically representative system of marine protected areas.

Technical Brief on Ocean Zones and their Application guidelines for Marine Spatial Planning. Ocean Zones were developed in a workshop by local experts in June 2017. The respective application guidelines were developed based on the defined ocean zones and best scientific knowledge.
Both resources are part of the MSP process commissioned by Ocean12 and supported by the MACBIO project. Ocean12 approved this technical brief in September 2019.
