The Solomon islands government announced that it will established a new tax around logs that are exported in excess of the national estimated around yield. The new tax will allow the Government to act quickly and legally to control logging. Conservationist have something to celebrate with the declaration of southern whale sanctuary, approved in Mexico. Population growth is an important issue facing the Pacific, it can impact the environmental and health problems. Tuvalu have developed a comprehensive strategy to try to deal with population growth and impact of this growth on all sectors calling it a Draft for growth population in Tuvalu
