A outcome of the 10 days trip to Waisisi Oil Palm Project site (Wairokai) in Malaita conducted by the Land Use team of MAL from 22nd July to 31st July 2016.
The purpose of this assessment task was to carry out land use assessment of identified list of 22 small-holders out growers total land area, locations and access to existing logging road in area; to find out if they could fully receive current over-grown nursery. And to identify other potential oil palm suitable areas/pockets apart from this 22, in Wairokai Basin using landscape scoping methods using satellite imageries, GETAC GPS for mapping these findings out and make constructive recommendations for decision making and farm planning, in terms of Blocks layout, proposed road access layout, and area determinations.
