The 2020 State of Environment Report is the first for Papua New Guinea.
This report presents the latest update on the state ofenvironment in PNG. Although some information is scarce,the report provides a snapshot of our environment, giventhe diverse pressures and threats we are facing from bothnatural and anthropogenic causes. The SoE report uses a reporting model to describethe state of environment in PNG. It identifies drivingforces and pressures that result in the current state ofenvironment, and suggests a potential response strategy.Recommendations are presented for future legislative orother actions

In December 2017 the 100 Island Challenge partnered with American Samoa Department of Marine & Wildlife Resources Coral Reef Advisory Group to survey reefs around the islands of Savai'i and Upolu of Samoa.
An assessment framework based on key habitats in Samoa:
* cloud forest and uplands
* lowlands, coastal strand
* nearshore marine, offshore marine, and rivers and streams
* climate change, air quality, waste disposal, renewable energy, and population pressures.
It also assesses the status of Samoa’s species of high conservation value, especially those that are endemic and critically endangered.

Environmental Monitor 2002 is designed to provide basic information about PNG's natural resources, pressures affecting these resources and steps which need to take place to ensure PNG's awareness of economic benefits and trade-offs involved between development and sustainability. It is the first in Monitor Series which aim to engage and inform stakeholders of key environmental issues.
JICA Country Profile on Environment of Papua New Guinea (PNG) was carried out by the Planning and Evaluation Department Japan International Cooperation Agency in February 2002. This 37 paged report outlines PNG's fact sheets, organization structure, legislation, current environmental issues and international relations between PNG and overseas countries

This report stems from a simple observation: that since Independence in 1975, Papua New Guinea’s economic and social development outcomes have not matched people’s aspirations or government promises. Indeed, despite the abundance of its riches, PNG lags behind its Pacific neighbours on many important development indicators.
This is an economic evaluation of the compensation to which Papua New Guinea’s customary landholders -
wrongly dispossessed through Special Agricultural Business Leases (SABL) - might be entitled if they successfully sued the government. The evaluation involves the calculation of commercial loss but also, and probably moreimport antly, economic equivalent value loss. The framework identifies the relevant heads of value (not just priced transactions) and demonstrates appropriate methods for valuation. It does not pretend to be a price calculator but rather a tool for advocacy.

It defines a new paradigm of ocean economy, one that is in balance with the long-term capacity of the assets, goods and services of marine ecosystems, and that considers social inclusiveness.
