This publication contains energy statistics relating to the Gilbert Island group of Kiribati covering a time period of 2000-2009. It
provides an insight into the group's energy balance, socio-economic history, sources of net energy supplies, end-use sectors, and selected
macroeconomic variables.
Pacific leaders came together on the sidelines of the 68th United Nations General Assembly in September 2013 to sign a historic declaration with the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The declaration called for the establishment of a Pacific Regional Data Repository (PRDR) in support of the United Nations Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) initiative. A series of consultative workshops have been completed since, with more planned for the coming months.
IRENAs multi-faceted work in the region is reflected in Pacific Lighthouses: Renewable Energy Roadmapping for Islands. The main report, intended to provide a framework for further action, is supported by 15 reports on specific islands and a document detailing hybrid
power systems for the Pacific. Together, these reports identify key concepts, challenges and best practices for the accelerated uptake of renewable energy in the
Quantification of Energy Efficiency in the Utilities of the US Affiliate States (Excluding US Virgin Islands) - Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC). KEMA Inc has been awarded by the Pacific Power Association (PPA) in Fiji to carry out a project called “Quantification of Energy Efficiency in the Utilities of the U.S. Affiliate States (Excluding US Virgin Islands)”. The Energy Programme of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) convened a project Steering Committee meeting of the Pacific Appliance Labelling and Standards (PALS) programme. This was followed by a workshop for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Efficient Lighting programme. The two events took place this week (May 27-28) in Nadi, Fiji.
