This report presents the wind data evaluation after 12 months measurement at the proposed wind park site Anabar at Nauru Island. The data were obtained from July 2009 to June 2010, from a measuring campaign executed within the framework of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme under SPREP.

The measurement period features an average wind speed of 4.22 m/s in 30 m above ground and shows, therefore, only a marginal to moderate wind regime.

UNDP supported wind resource monitoring and an assessment in Rarotonga. In May 2007 a wind  measurement  station  was  installed in the Northeast of Rarotonga, Cook Islands.  Wind  data  for  evaluation were  available  from  May 2007 until May 2008. The wind data have been checked and found plausible and  complete. They  are regarded to be  suitable for the  energy  prediction  of  a  grid-connected  wind park and for an investment decision.

The Government of Australia, SPC and Government of France under the PREFACE Project supported wind resource monitoring and assessment on Mangaia Island. Wind monitoring mast was installed in April 2001 by SPC and the Ministry of Works, Energy and Physical Planning. Data collection started on 18th April 2001 until 10th July 2002. Data retrieval has been made each month, 19 data files transmitted to VERGNET covering a period from 18/04/01 to 10/07/02 meaning more than a year of available data.

DNV KEMA was asked to evaluate the maximum amount of photovoltaic (PV) and wind generation that could be add to the Electric Power Corporation (EPC) electrical network located on the island Savaii. The analysis was based on the network model that was provided by EPC and was used for the previous study completed by DNV-KEMA.
