In January 1993, a SEAFRAME (Sea Level Fine Resolution Acoustic Measuring Equipment) gauge was installed in Port Vila, Vanuatu. Readings(height observations) recorded from the gauge, is held in this record and provided in the form of Yearly Reports, Tide Prediction Calendars and Hourly Sea Level and meteorological data (update frequency- real time) from the Port Vila station. This is downloadable from the Distribution Info Section of this metadata record and dataset available in digital text format.

North New Hebrides Back Arc Area is entirely located in Solomon Islands EEZ.This record shows an Acoustic Backscatter Imagery of the North New Hebrides (Vanuatu) Back Arc Area. The was produced as part of the SOPACMAPS series of 1993 on board the R/V Atalante. Sounding Equipment used: Simrad EM12 Dual. Coast line files (solid lines) are provided under SOPAC responsibility. The cruise was funded by the Eurpean Community and the Data Acquisition and processing done by IFREMER. The chart is not to be used for Navigation.

Tropical Cyclone (TC) Pam made landfall in Vanuatu on 13 March 2015, causing severe damage to parts of the country. A post-disaster needs assessment (Esler 2015) completed less than a month after the cyclone highlighted the need for multi-hazard mapping of urban areas and for an action plan to identify safe areas for future growth. The report also emphasised the importance of having a sound scientific basis for predicting hazards and a reliable forecasting system.

This report describes a high-resolution bathymetric mapping survey of the seabed surrounding the island of Efate in Vanuatu, by the Pacific Islands Applied Geoscience Commission
(SOPAC). The survey was carried out over a period of 25
days in August 2003, resulting in the acquisition of over 600 line kilometres of MBES data.
The resultant compilation was used to produce
bathymetry charts of Efate at scales of 1 : 100 000 and 1 : 50 000, with more detailed charts of
Mele Bay, Forari Bay and Havannah Bay at 1 : 20 000.

A high-resolution bathymetric mapping survey of the seabed surrounding the island of Efate in Vanuatu. This bathymetric map is a blend of multibeam (MBES), and singlebeam (SBES) echosounder data. All slope angles exceeding 60 degrees (degrees from horizontal) were interpreted as scarps. Any Inclined area of the seafloor that was laterally confined by distinctive slopes, with or without an upslope headscarp, was interpreted as a channel.

This record holds the Bathymetry chart of Havannah Bay showing shallow to deep, from red to blue, with two times vertical exaggeration. Chart is the result of the high-resolution bathymetric mapping survey of the seabed surrounding Port Havannah Harbour in Vanuatu. This bathymetric map is a blend of multibeam (MBES), and singlebeam (SBES) echosounder data. This work was initiated by the SOPAC/EU Reducing Vulnerability of Pacific ACP States Project.

The Vanuatu White-eye (Zosterops flavifrons) is endemic to Vanuatu and is one of the most widespread and abundant birds within the region. Seven geographical subspecies of this bird, varying both in size and colour, have been identified in the country. This document briefly addresses the causes of population divergence.

The study of the ichthyofaunal corpus yielded by the archaeological site of Teouma, Efate Island, Vanuatu, has
revealed the unexpected presence of a significant number of bones of Eleotridae (Sleepers) on the site, as early as
2920–2870 cal. B.P. Out of the 8560 identified fish remains associated with the Lapita layers, which document
the period of initial settlement of the archipelago, 1368 have been determined as belonging to eleotrids, including
species of the genera Giuris, Ophiocara and Eleotris. They represent 16% of the corpus and occupy second
