This was as part of the BRCC, Building Resilience toClimate Change in PNG, ADB funded program onFood Security. This work took us to the rarelyvisited preselected islands of the Luzancays; Kawaand Konia, the villages of Keileuna Island and Lalelavillage of Kitava Island. As getting to these places isa full days dinghy travel from Alotau on an open 23’fibreglass banana boat with a 40HP engine hangingoff the back, the calmer the weather the better.

The Vuri Forest Conservation Area (VFCA) is part of the Vuri Clan customary land and is under ownership of the tribal people of the Vuri Clan of Sikipozo tribe. Some of these traditional landowners live in Sasamungga village in South Choiseul, while the majority live in other parts of Choiseul province and other parts of the country
