This report presents the findings of the landfill audit undertaken for Vanuatu. The methodology applied for this landfill audit was as per the Waste Audit Methodology – a step-by-step manual to conduct comprehensive waste audits in SIDs, produced by PRIF.
The waste audit was undertaken with support from Port Vila Municipal Council and Luganville Municipal Council in close collaboration with APWC (remotely) supporting the delivery of the waste audit and other key stakeholders. The audit took place from 9 to 30 October 2020 and the results are presented in this report.

Samoa’s National Implementation Plan (NIP) for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) incorporates the findings of several studies implemented to assess the presence of POPs chemicals and levels of contamination, areas of significant contamination, the country’s institutional capacity to formulate and implement a plan for POPs reduction and elimination, and to finalize an inventory of POPs in the country.
This national inventory aims to provide a snap shot of the situation in Samoa in 2009 with the generation of electrical and electronic wastes, and the management practices involved to safely store, collect, refurbish, recycle and dispose of the generated wastes.

Nauru faces many economic and environmental challenges. In the 1970s the country experienced an economic boom due to phosphate mining, however, because of mismanagement of the revenue, the country currently has limited financial resources to undertake many of its development programmes including environmentally sound waste management. In the face of a range of environmental, social and economic threats from poor waste management and pollution, and in the context of the limited resources, this National Solid Waste Management Strategy is developed as a matter of priority.

The study conducted audits in Port Moresby and Roku Village in the Central Province, received data from audits conducted in Lae and Alotau, and sourced historical data from audits conducted in Kokopo (2018) and Goroka (2019)

The waste audit was undertaken by Nauru Rehabilitation Corporation and the Department of Commerce, Industry and Environment for Nauru in close collaboration with T+TI (remotely) supporting the delivery of the waste audit and other key stakeholders. The audit took place from 7 to 15 December 2020, excluding 13 December 2020.
SPREP is leading the charge to make the Pacific Games in July go plastic free in an awareness and outreach initiative aptly called Greening of the Games. This dataset holds a draft report and a raw baseline data collected from a clean-up at Mulinu'u executed on the 11th May 2019 by the the Team Samoa Va'a, to contextualize solutions and interventions to address marine litter and plastic pollution.
