The creation of the independent and sovereign nation of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) under the Compact of Free Association with the United States caused a growing need for social and economic development planning. Consequently, as in many developing countries, administrators and planners in the FSM, in their quest for social and economic development often contend with incomplete or unavailable information when it is needed.

The purpose of the HIES survey is to obtain information on the income, consumption pattern, incidence of poverty, and saving propensities for different groups of people in FSM. This information will be used to guide policy makers in framing socio-economic developmental policies and in initiating financial measures for improving economic conditions of the people. The 2005 FSM HIES asked income of all persons 15 years and over. It referred to income received during the calendar year 2004, and includes both cash and in-kind income. The survey has five primary objectives, namely to:

The Nauru-STEPS was a nation-wide representative survey of 15 to 64 year olds with the following objectives:
1. To document the national prevalence and patterns of tobacco use, alcohol consumption, dietary behaviours, physical activity, body mass index, elevated blood pressure, and biochemical markers such as blood glucose and blood lipids in Nauru.
2. To provide reliable and up-to-date information on NCD risk factors for planning and evaluating public health initiatives, and for identifying future demands for health services in managing and treating NCDs.

The Nauru Population and Housing Census 2011 is funded by UNFPA and AusAID. Technical assistant was provided by the SPC/SDP from Noumea. The Census night took place on 30th October 2011 at 12 midnight. The fieldwork was scheduled to complete in 2 weeks and the final schedule was given 1-2 weeks extension time for supervisor's editing of forms.

The 2019 Nauru mini census was carried out to update statistics on the population and the socio-economic situation of all persons living in private households in Nauru. Furthermore, the data collected in this census will be used as a sampling frame for future surveys that will be conducted in the country.

The 2005 Republic of Palau Census of Population and Housing will be used to give a snapshot of Republic of Palau's population and housing at the mid-point of the decade. This Census is also important because it measures the population at the beginning of the implementation of the Compact of Free Association. The information collected in the census is needed to plan for the needs of the population. The government uses the census figures to allocate funds for public services in a wide variety of areas, such as education, housing, and job training.

The primary objective of the 2006 DHS is to provide to the Department of Health (DOH), Department of National Planning and Monitoring (DNPM) and other relevant institutions and users with updated and reliable data on infant and child mortality, fertility preferences, family planning behavior, maternal mortality, utilization of maternal and child health services, knowledge of HIV/AIDS and behavior, sexually risk behavior and information on the general household amenities.

The 2001 Population and Housing Census of Samoa was taken on the midnight of November the 5th 2001. It counted every person in the country on that night and collected a wide range of social, economic and demographic information about each individual and their housing status.

The Population and Housing Census (PHC) 2006 provides a population count of all people that resided in Samoa on the 6th of November, 2006. It collected a range of socio-economic and demographic information pertaining to household members and their associated housing facilities and household status. The information were used to develop statistical indicators to support national plannning and policy-making and also to monitor MDG indicators and all other related conventions.

The 2009 Agricultural Census was undertaken by the Samoa Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. The Census collected a large volume of information pertaining to the agricultural activities of households. Enumeration was carried out for 5 weeks in November/December 2009 by enumerators selected from the villages through interview and a basic test. The test included basic mathematical skills, knowledge of agricultural practices and map reading. This was to ensure that the enumerators are of high quality.

This survey provide some insights into employment and labour relations situation in Samoa covering topics such as characteristics of the Working Age Population (WAP), labour force, employment characteristics, participation in subsistence production, informal employment, unemployment characteristics, youth (aged 15 - 29 years) employment and unemployment characteristics, earnings from employment, working hours, occupational safety and equal opportunities for all, and a module on youth school-to-work transition (subject of a separate report).

Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) collects a wealth of information on HH income and expenditure, such as source of income by industry, HH expenditure on goods and services, and income and expenditure associated with subsistence production and consumption. In addition to this, HIES collects information on sectoral and thematic areas, such as education, health, labour force, primary activities, transport, information and communication, transfers and remittances, food expenditure (as a proxy for HH food consumption and nutrition analysis), and gender.

The Tonga Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) was conducted in 2019 by the Tonga Statistics Department in collaboration with Ministry of Health with technical support of Ministry of Internal Affairs – Women’s Affairs and Gender Equality Division (WAGED) and other key Government Ministries UNICEF, UNFPA, the Pacific Community (SPC) and other partners. The survey provides statistically sound and internationally comparable data essential for developing evidence-based policies and programs, and for monitoring progress toward national goals and global commitments.

The key objective of every census is to count every person (man, woman, child) resident in the country on census night, and also collect information on assorted demographic (sex, age, marital status, citizenship) and socio-economic (education/qualifications; labour force and economic activity) information, as well as data pertinent to household and housing characteristics. This count provides a complete picture of the population make-up in each village and town, of each island and region, thus allowing for an assessment of demographic change over time.

The 2010 Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) is the second survey of income and expenditure in Vanuatu to provide reliable sub-national estimates, with the 2006 HIES being the first time this was attempted. The first HIES was conducted in 1985 in the two urban centres of Luganville and Port Vila. Another was conducted in 1998 but unfortunately, for a number of reasons to do with errors of estimation and observation, the 1998 HIES did not provide reliable and accurate estimates. With the lessons learnt from past experience, the main objectives for the 2010 survey were to:
