As resource management and conservation efforts move toward multi-sector, ecosystem-based approaches, we need methods for comparing the varying responses of ecosystems to the impacts of human activities in order to prioritize management efforts, allocate limited resources, and understand cumulative effects. Given the number and variety of human activities affecting ecosystems, relatively few empirical studies are adequately comprehensive to inform these decisions. Consequently, management often turns to expert judgment for information.
This legal review has been written to provide an overview of the legal aspects of environmental management issues facing the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), steps that have been taken to tackle these issues and the weaknesses and gaps that remain.
This report presents the outcome of the 2nd Review of Tuvalu’s Integrated Waste Policy Action Plan 2017-2026, providing the updates on the implementation status of the Policy during the period January 2018 – March 2019. This Review follows the 1st Review conducted in 2018 for the period June 2016 to December 2017.
