HIES collects a wealth of information on HH income and expenditure, such as source of income by industry, HH expenditure on goods and services, and income and expenditure associated with subsistence production and consumption. In addition to this, HIES collects information on sectoral and thematic areas, such as education, health, labour force, primary activities, transport, information and communication, transfers and remittances, food expenditure (acquisition) and gender.

The primary purpose of this survey was to gather more accurate and detailed information on income and expenditure levels and flows in the Marshall Islands (MHL) and to update and revise the MHL Consumer Price Index (a separate series of publications document the CPI revision efforts).

A strong evidence base is needed to understand the socioeconomic implications of the COVID-19 pandemic for the Solomon Islands. High Frequency Phone Surveys (HFPS) are designed to collect data on the evolving implications of the COVID-19 pandemic over several years. This data is the second of at least five planned rounds of mobile surveys.
