An interview with One Radio Australia on environmental aspects in PNG, FSM and Tonga. One of Australia's major environmental organisation, the Australia Conservation foundation has recently released a report on the impact of Ok-Tedi mine in PNG. A major focus of the report is reducing pollution from the mine.
In the islands of Pompeii located in FSM, the preservation of forest areas is crucial to the protection of watersheds/water catchments. The forest are essential part of water cycle, are also useful to stopping soil erosion.
A special book is being ustilised by one of the Primary in Tonga titled "The Environment of Tonga a geography resource." Author Wendy Crane produce this unique education resource which should fill a cap in the environmental resource in the Pacific region.
