Tuvalu, Vaitupu, 1996, Coastal Geology Map

A 1996 SOPAC geological map of Vaitupu In Tuvalu. Drawn by Philip Woodward. This map shows areas of the Erosional coasts, Pro-grading coasts and stable beach areas of the island. It provides information on spur and groove areas, pavement, sand and rubble areas, mud flat, location of reef edges, sand beach and gravel areas. Map was compiled and published by the SPC, Applied Geoscience and Technology Division (SOPAC). This map is available for download from the SPC (SOPAC Division) Virtual Library and also available for download from the Distribution section of this metadata record.The SPC Applied Geoscience and Technology Division coastal geological maps are a unique detailed record of the physical landscapes, coastal features and natural resources from the different member Pacific Island countries. These maps can be used for diverse purposes by government agencies, surveyors, planners, consulting scientists, engineers and other individuals. These purposes include analysis of coastal geological changes overtime, monitoring of coastal degradation and improvements, predict climate and other geological changes.
