The Cooperative Study on the Deepsea Mineral Resources in Selected Offshore Areas of the SOPAC Region, 2001 -Sea Area of The Republic of the Fiji Islands. In the second year of the Stage II Phase 2 program of the joint study program for the deep sea mineral resources survey in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the SOPAC member countries the study was conducted in the EEZ of the Republic of the Fiji Islands. Within the EEZ of Fiji, the surveys were conducted in 1999 and 2001 and two areas, Central Hill and ERZ A, were selected to be high potential for hydrothermal mineralization in the survey of 1999. Based on the results of the survey in 1999, the survey in 2004, included bathymetric survey, seafloor observation (FDC), samplings (FPG AD), was conducted in the two areas for assessing the potentiality of seafloor hydrothermal mineralization. Further, the environmental survey using RO and MC was carried out as baseline studies of the area to predict the magnitude of mining impact on the deep-sea environmentLatitide Longitude a)16°00′S177°15′Eb) 16°00′S177°35′Ec) 16°30′S177°35′Ed)16°30′S177°15′Ee)16°00′S177°15′E
