Fiji, 1999, Deepsea Bathymetry, Dataset

A Joint Basic Study by the South Pacific Applied Geosience Commission (SOPAC) and the Government of Japan undertaken for marine geological and other studies relating to mineral prospecting. To assess the mineral resources potential of the deep sea bottom in the offshore regions of SOPAC member countries. This metadata entry presents survey conducted in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of the Fiji Islands, for the Fiscal Year 2001.
Bathymetry dataset was produced by the Joint Japan International Cooperation Agency and SOPAC Deepsea Mineral Survey. Survey was conducted from May 20 to July 2, 1999 and analysis from April 1, 1999 to March 31, 2000. Survey included topographic and acoustic surveys, magnetic survey, sea floor observation and photography, core sampling and CTD measurements. Bathymetry datasets can be downloaded from the appropriate link under Distribution Info with appropriate permission from the Secretariat.The purpose of the survey is to assess the potential of submarine mineral resources within the Exclusive Economic Zones of the Republic of Fiji Islands.
