Solomon Islands, Noro Bathymetry Chart ,1 :25 000 #1

This record holds the bathymetry chart of Noro in the New Georgia Islands groups of the Solomon Islands. High-resolution bathymetric mapping survey, was conducted for the seabed in between South Kolombangara, North Arundel Island and North West New Georgia. The survey was carried out from the 12 to the 15 July 2005 using Reason 8160 MBES equipment and from the 09th July to 11 July 2005, 13-14 July 2005 and from the 18-19 July 2005 using Reason 8101 MBES ,resulting in the acquisition of part of over 1 535 km of multibeam echosounder (MBES) data collected for the Solomon Islands. The processed MBES data for the surveyed areas
was used to produce a bathymetry chart of Noro at 1:25 000 and dataset in XYZ text file, available from a separate record. This work was initiated by the SOPAC/EU Reducing Vulnerability of Pacific ACP States Project (Task no.: NR 1.1.1). Bathymetry chart can be downloaded from this record under the Distribution Info section with appropriate permission from the Secretariat.This bathymetric map gives a descriptive picture of the ocean bottom terrain, vividly revealing the size, shape and distribution of underwater features, and serve as the basic tool for scientific, engineering, marine geophysical and environmental studies, as well as marine and coastal resource management.Noro is a town in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands.
