The Energy Review provides an overview of the Samoa energy sector from 2014-2015. The reviews carried out annually and are conducted by the Ministry of Finance - Energy Policy Coordination and Management Division.The primary purpose of this reports is to document Samoa’s energy history and offer perspectives on issues related to past energy supply and demand, the data also serve to monitor and evaluate Samoa energy goals and targets conducive to the new Samoa Energy Sector Plan.
In 2014, total energy produced in Samoa is estimated at 98.8 kilo tonnes of oil equivalent. Of the total energy produced, 16% was met by biomass, 81% by petroleum products while the remaining 3% was met by hydropower, coconut oil bio fuel and other minor renewables. Contribution from new renewable energy sources contributes to 0.06% of total energy produced in 2014 similarly to 2013.
In 2015, total energy produced in Samoa is estimated at 108.3 kilo tonnes of oil equivalent. Of the total energy produced, 14% was met by biomass, 83% by petroleum products while the remaining 3% was met by hydropower, solar, wind and other minor renewable. Contribution from new renewable energy sources contributes to 0.1% of total energy produced in 2015 similarly to 2014
