Activity Report
Every year, on the third Saturday in September, the world celebrates International Coastal Cleanup Day (ICCD)—the largest coastal clean-up event globally. Marine litter is a global, intergenerational, and transboundary issue that poses serious threats to the environment, human health, and coastal economies. To combat marine litter and plastic pollution, SPREP, through the SWAP, POLP and KIOST Projects, funded 23 organisations across Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and Wallis & Futuna to conduct beach clean-up campaigns, including waste audits and awareness-raising activities.
This report presents the results of the ten activities carried out under the SWAP Project during ICCD 2022.
