Tropical Cyclone Gita hit the main island of Tongatapu and the island of ‘Eua on the night of Monday, 12th February 2018 as a destructive category 4 storm, causing severe damages to these two islands which consists of about 80% of the Total population of Tonga.
This assessment uses the post-disaster data collected by the Statistical Department to describe the characteristics of the affected population, nature and spatial concentration of the damage, and the aid required and received at the time of the interview by the Tongan population.

Land use planning assessments is important in that it visualizes landscape and environment features of sites including soils and population pressure on the use of land. Helps decision making at multiple levels in projects planning: at the national, provincial, constituency, ward, community and tribal levels, corresponding to the levels of governance at which decisions about land use are formalized.
Under the MESCAL project, the objectives of this assessment are to;
* Improve understanding of mangrove ecosystem functions, values, key threats, and processes at a local and regional scale;
* Provide a standardized method to assess shoreline mangrove condition and change over time;
* Generate community awareness of mangroves and encourage local environmental stewardship;
* Conduct a rapid and representative survey of fish and mobile crustacean assemblages;
The purpose of this policy is to provide a framework and to maintain a coordinated, consistent conduct of external examinations and assessments. Te Curriculum Development Unit (CDU) and Technology and Employment Skills Training (TEST) are responsible for setting appropriate assessments that will foster learning, and most of which is conducted through forma examinations.
This policy provides the overall authority and guidance for curriculum assessment and reporting policies and practices developed to be performed at the classroom, school and system level.
