This report is related to the prevention and minimization of the damage to marine and coastal environments and resources from major marine spills, and to hasten the recovery of any environments and resources damaged by major marine spills, in the Pacific Islands region.
The ‘drive hunting’ of dolphins has a long history in the Solomon Islands, specifically at the island of Malaita. In 2010, the most active village, Fanalei, suspended hunting in exchange for financial compensation from an international non-governmental organization but resumed hunting again in early 2013. This dataset hosts a report on a visit to Fanalei in March 2013 to document the species and number of dolphins killed in the renewed hunting.
This report presents the final results of resource assessments conducted at fifteen sites to assess the status of sea cucumber stocks and the impact of existing management measures. Sea cucumber catch and export production quantities and values, and species composition were assessed to provide an understanding of fishing activities.

Growth and Survival of the Giant Clams
On 2 April 2007, a large earthquake and tsunami hit the western Solomon Islands causing varying degrees of damage and disruption to coastal communities. This assessment is focused on immediate damage to and needs of the coastal fisheries, including environment and infrastructure, though the opportunity was taken to assess more general damage and threats to the long term, sustainable recovery of coastal fisheries.
A major objective of this report was to develop a regional assessment of Pacific Island sensitivity to projected
climate change as a component of the Pacific-Australia Climate Change Science and Adaptation Planning
(PACCSAP) program. The PACCSAP Program is intended to help partner countries including Cook Islands, Fiji,

The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants is an international treaty that requires Parties to phase-out and eliminate the production and use of the most persistent and toxic chemicals that have adverse impacts on human health and the environment.

The MACBIO project classify the entire marine environment within the MACBIO participating countries to inform, in particular, their national marine spatial and marine protected area planning efforts. The draft outputs are marine bioregions that include reef-associated and deepwater biodiversity assemblages with complete spatial coverage at a scale useful for national planning. Results for the Solomon Islands have been presented to the marine experts and government of the Solomon Islands for review.

This vulnerability assessment provides evidence for the Government of Tonga and the people of Lifuka Island to make informed decisions about adapting to coastal erosion and sea-level rise. This project also aimed to be a blueprint for other low-lying nations considering adaptation options.
The objectives of this study were as follows:
1. Resurvey and delineation of the sand resource of eight beaches on Tongatapu
2. Evaluation of the extent of recent coastal changes on Tongatapu including changes effected by cyclones and other natural events, beach sand extraction, and interaction between the two.
3. Investigation of the rate of sand production and implications for the sustainability of beach mining.
